Champaca Bookstore in Bengaluru has announced a discussion and guided tasting centred on Mahua Matters for November 22 at its Vasanthnagar venue. The programme is scheduled to begin at 6 pm.

In its November 3 announcement, the bookstore lists food researchers Shivani Unakar and Elizabeth Yorke, contributor Kumud Dadlani and chef Hanna Sarangan. The conversation will explore the people and places behind the publication, followed by an audience question-and-answer session and a tasting.

Mahua Matters, Issue #1, developed by Wild Harvest and Edible Issues, brings together essays, research, fiction and recipes about the tree and its connections with food, forest communities and livelihoods. It also includes a flavour wheel developed through participatory tasting sessions.

The programme offers readers a way to connect the publication’s research with an ingredient used in different regional food traditions. Visitors can use Champaca’s registration page to check arrangements and reserve a place. The venue says access is by stairs and it has no elevator.
