Astrobase plans to invest ₹500 crore in a rocket-engine manufacturing facility in Karnataka, state Industries Minister M.B. Patil said on November 3 after meeting company representatives. The proposal concerns a ten-acre site at Adinarayana Hosahalli in Bengaluru Rural district.
According to The Economic Times’ report of the announcement, the planned facility would have capacity for 40 engines annually and could create more than 1,250 jobs. These are projected figures, not current production or employment totals.
Astrobase’s website describes its work on reusable launch vehicles and the EVEREST engine, which uses cryogenic oxygen and methane. It separately lists a manufacturing operation in Bengaluru and an engine-testing site in Andhra Pradesh; the latest proposal should not be confused with those existing activities.
Patil also outlined a separate ₹200 crore Bayer global capability centre proposal in Bengaluru. The two projects together represent ₹700 crore in planned investment. The reports do not establish a commissioning date for Astrobase’s proposed factory or confirm that the announced spending has already occurred.
