More than 500 people joined the 97th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle in Ahmedabad on November 1, according to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The event took place at Veer Savarkar Sports Complex.

The Sports Authority of India's Gandhinagar regional centre organised the programme with the Fit India Movement and MY Bharat. Participants included residents, cycling enthusiasts and National Cadet Corps cadets and personnel from units across Gujarat.

The morning began with Zumba and included chess, foosball, ludo, badminton and volleyball. A separate games zone introduced participants to traditional Indian games, adding recreational activities alongside the cycle ride.

Organisers also discussed avoiding single-use plastics, conserving energy, buying local products and responsible recycling. These messages linked the gathering with the BRICS sustainable-lifestyle programme.

The Ahmedabad event was part of the nationwide Sundays on Cycle initiative, launched in December 2024. The ministry says the weekly programme operates through SAI centres and partner organisations across states and Union territories.
